What They Say About Judgement Day (Musing)

Judgement Day.

By and large, the world contains two sorts of people. Some spend too much time talking about Judgement Day, and some spend too little time thinking about it.

Then again, that’s not really correct – those could both be true of the same individual.

People, when they talk about this at all, seem to have a negative perception of “Judgement Day.” Maybe because of the Fire and Brimstone sermons they’ve heard. Maybe because of the intensity of the holiness of God and the way His power is displayed in the Bible.

When I think about Judgement Day, I see it a little bit differently (perhaps naively). Google’s first definition for the word “judgement” is this: “The ability to make considered decisions or come to sensible conclusions”.

Judgement Day is the hope of a final exodus away from the confusing; the tension; the tossing and turning; the gray areas – the unanswered questions, weight, and why’s that we all live in and have to slog through. It’s a final rest. A final reckoning. When the chips land and don’t have to be picked up again.

And better yet, Judgement Day’s emcee is the only perfect mind; the only spotless, just, right entity out there. And better yet, we have access to Him beforehand. And better yet, He offers us a pass to guarantee we’re on the right side of justice if we take Him up on it.

I’ll take Judgement Day any day.
