There’s something starkly beautiful about a cardinal in the bare branches of a tree. A flash of color that won’t give in like everything else to becoming dull and dead-looking for winter. Frosty grass below, glistening a bit in the morning sunlight. It stays for just a moment, then flies off to brighten another forlorn tree.
It’s been a long couple days. I’m thankful for that bit of brightness this morning.
